Modern civilizations, both Eastern and Western, are no more than a generation or two removed from the belief that children were property. Unfortunately, many people still think of children as property, or do not want the children they have produced. In many cases a mistreated child continues the cycle with their own children. We form our core relationship with our self, life and other people in early childhood in reaction to the messages we get from the way we are treated and the role modeling of the other people in our lives. 

As Adults, we need to address this dysfunctional way we have been programmed as children in order to break the cycle. We cannot truly love others nor have others love us, if we do not love ourself first. As long as we are judging our self and comparing our life to others, we will never feel good about who we are. If emotionally you remain a wounded child you will never be able to create a reality based in harmony, love, and prosperity.
